Revelations About Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Sangakkara revealed that he first became aware of Vaibhav in 2023. In an interview with Sky Sports, he mentioned, 'Suryavanshi has already established himself as a remarkable talent. In 2023, an analyst from Rajasthan Royals sent me a message highlighting a special player we needed to keep an eye on.' He first saw Vaibhav live when the team signed him, and he had also watched videos of him batting against Jofra Archer and other fast bowlers in Guwahati's nets, where he made it look effortless.
Sangakkara further commented, 'He has a lot of time at the crease; every time he connects with the ball, the sound is like a gunshot. His bat swing is exceptional, and his movements are simple and minimalistic. This is just the beginning of his journey to becoming even better, and I hope it will be something truly special.'
Impressive IPL Debut
On April 19, 2025, Vaibhav made his IPL debut against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. He made an immediate impact by hitting a six off his very first ball against Shardul Thakur. Later, he stunned the cricketing community with a remarkable innings of 101 runs off just 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans, which included 11 sixes and 7 fours.
